Crooked teeth
There are several reasons why some people’s teeth are crooked, overlap, or rotated. Some people's mouths are too small to fit all of their teeth, which can lead to crowding and overlapping teeth. In other cases, a person's upper and lower jaws are not the same size or are malformed, resulting in either an overbite (excessive protrusion of the upper jaw), or a reverse overbite (the lower jaw protrudes forward, causing the lower jaw and teeth to extend beyond the upper teeth). Sometimes the upper teeth protrude in front of the lower teeth, which is called an overjet.
Come for an consultation and assessment to discuss your options (no cost for Year 9 and older children). Sometimes we wait until all the baby teeth have fallen out (maybe 11-12 years old) before starting orthodontic work, however there are some indications for earlier intervention. We can advise when to refer to an orthodontist for an opinion.
